Body Politics, Storytelling Space for Digital Art- (English below)
Nuestro cuerpo se quedo en hilachitas (testimonio de mujer antioquena del conflicto armado) Video Memoria para la vida. Una Comision de la Verdad desde las mujeres para Colombia.
En esta actividad, empezamos con un extracto del video creado por la Ruta Paifica de las Mujeres. A continuacion, debatimos los metodos utilizados en este video para presentar a las mujeres, y discutimos temas como representacion, genero, cuerpo femenino, agencia, victima y sobreviviente. Identificamos las formas en que este video trata de dar agencia a las mujeres representadas, y representarlas como sobrevivientes activas, y no solo victimas pasivas. Luego, hablamos de como podran tratar de incluir estas tacticas en su obra de arte. (Introduccion por Claire Taylor)
ACTIVIDAD Nuestro cuerpo se quedo en hilachitas, impartida por Maria Mencia.
Tomamos esta frase como punto de partida – como una expression significativa de la violencia sufrida y sentida a traves del cuerpo- y utilizamos tela de yute como simbolo del cuerpo. A las mujeres se les invito a investigar temas de genero, identidad, violencia, agencia e imprimir y expresar sus ideas, preocupaciones, experiencias, sentimientos y resoluciones en la tela de yute y a traves de este proceso de apoderamiento dar expresion a sus voces. Despues, en un esfuerzo colectivo, deshilacharon la tela y se cubrieron con ella para encarnar los mensajes dentro de esta cubierta deshilachada.
Materiales: Tela deshilachada y mensajes creados con plantillas y tinta china.
Nuestro cuerpo se quedo en hilachitas / Our body was left in shreds
(testimonial by an ‘antioquena’ woman from the arm conflict) Video Memoria para la vida. (Memory for life). Comision de la Verdad from the women to Colombia.
We took this sentence as a starting point, as a significative expression of the violence suffered and felt through the body, and used the sack cloth as a symbol of the body. Women were invited to investigate issues of gender, identity, violence, agency, and stamp their ideas, concerns, experiences, feelings and expectations on the sack cloth and -through this process- it was my intention to empower them to make their voices heard. Afterwards, in a collective effort, they frayed the cloth and covered themselves with it to perform powerful variations of embodied group sculptures covered with the frayed sack cloth with messages.
(In Spanish ‘deshilachar’ means to fray, the noun ‘hilachitas’ in English loses the metaphorical reference of ‘frayed cloth’ and it is translated as ˜in little pieces or in shreds)

Sororidad, hermandaz entre mujeres. Sisterhood
